Georgia Peanut Commission encourages peanut consumption at school nutrition meeting

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission attended the Georgia School Nutrition Association’s annual meeting April 14-16 in Savannah, Georgia, to educate nutrition personnel about peanuts and peanut butter and promote consumption in schools across the state. During the three day meeting, school nutrition professionals attended educational seminars, visited with food service industry representatives and received recognition for outstanding performance at their respective schools.

Georgia Peanut Commission increases funding for research projects in 2016

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) board of directors has approved $423,036 in research project funding for the 2016-17 research budget year. This action was taken during the commission’s March board meeting. The research projects approved include 30 project proposals submitted from the University of Georgia and USDA Agricultural Research Service. .

Georgia PB&J Day set for Wednesday at State Capitol

TIFTON, Ga. — March is National Peanut Month, a time to celebrate one of America’s favorite foods! The Georgia peanut industry plans to celebrate by hosting the 2016 Georgia PB&J Day at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia. The event kicks off Wednesday morning March 16, 2016, and will be held in the south wing of the Capitol from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The peanut industry will have plenty of PB&J’s, grilled PB&J’s, country-fried peanuts, boiled peanuts and more.

TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission held the annual Research Report Day, Feb. 10, 2016, at the National Environmentally Sound Production Agriculture Laboratory (NESPAL), located on the University of Georgia Tifton Campus. The event provided growers and industry representatives an opportunity to hear the latest reports and newest information available on peanut research projects funded by GPC in 2015.
