TIFTON, Ga. — The Southern Peanut Farmers Federation, The National Cotton Council and the USA Rice Federation appreciates the continued efforts of the leaders and members of the House and Senate Farm Bill Conference Committee to complete work on a comprehensive, multi-year farm bill. Georgia Peanut Commission holds Farmer Appreciation Day
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission and the National Peanut Buying Points Association hosted the 2013 Farmer Appreciation Day at the GPC office located in Tifton, Ga., Monday, Nov. 25. Georgia’s peanut farmers, industry representatives, state legislators and U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss attended the event. Georgia Peanut Commission to hold Farmer Appreciation Day
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission, in cooperation with the National Peanut Buying Points Association and peanut food manufacturers, will host the 2013 Farmer Appreciation Day at the GPC office located in Tifton, Ga., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. Georgia’s peanut farmers, along with other farmers throughout the state, are invited and encouraged to attend. Many statewide dignitaries and media representatives have been extended an invitation, as well, and are welcome to join GPC and peanut growers in celebrating the hard work of Georgia’s farmers.

Georgia Peanut Commission teams up with banks to promote peanuts October 14-18, 2013
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission and the Georgia Bankers Association join forces Oct. 14-18, 2013, in an effort to promote Georgia’s peanut industry during its 37th annual Georgia Peanut Bank Week. Morris elected chairman of the Georgia Peanut Commission
TIFTON, Ga. — Armond Morris, peanut farmer from Ocilla, Ga., was elected chairman of the Georgia Peanut Commission during the monthly board meeting in June. This is Morris' twelfth term as chairman of the commission. He has also served as chairman of the board previously in 1996 and 1997, 2003 and since 2005.read more . . .

Morris wins election for Georgia Peanut Commission District 2 representative
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission announces Armond Morris of Irwin County, as the District 2 board member-elect for a three-year term. Morris defeated Wes Shannon of Tift County, by 65.24% of the vote after a 30-day balloting period, which ended April 30, 2013. The Georgia Farm Bureau conducts the nomination meetings and votes are counted by the certified public accountants at Allen Pritchett & Bassett in Tifton, Ga. read more . . .

Peanut Proud and the Georgia Peanut Commission donate peanut butter to Oklahoma families
TIFTON, Ga. — Peanut Proud and the Georgia Peanut Commission loaded 22 pallets of peanut butter (31,680 jars) today to send to families in Oklahoma following the tornado disaster earlier this week. The entire U.S. peanut industry is supporting this effort and plans to send an additional truckload of supplies next week consisting of another 22 pallets of peanut butter, peanut snacks and other non-refrigerated items to donate to area food banks and distribution centers. read more . . .

Georgia Peanut Commission increases funding for research projects
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) board of directors has approved $292,500 in new research project funding for the 2013-14 research budget year. This action was taken during the commission’s March board meeting.
