TIFTON,
Georgia – The Georgia Peanut Commission is teaming up
with the Columbus Catfish baseball team to host Georgia Peanut
Night at the upcoming game on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 at 7:00
p.m. in Golden Baseball Park in Columbus, Ga. Throughout the
night, attendees at the game can enjoy Georgia Peanuts: The
Perfect Game Snack!
“ Peanuts and baseball go hand in hand,” says Armond Morris, chairman
of the Georgia Peanut Commission. “I am excited to promote Georgia peanuts
throughout the game and cheer on the Columbus Catfish as they play the Augusta
Greenjackets.”
To kick the night off Morris and the University of Georgia College of Agricultural
and Environmental Sciences Dean Scott Angle will throw out the first pitch. Dean
Angle recently began working with UGA on Aug. 15.
During the game fans will be able to cheer on Mr. Peanut as he challenges the
Catfish mascot in a race around the bases. Also, there will be live interviews
of Georgia peanut farmers from the announcer’s booth throughout the game.
All attendees to the game will receive Georgia peanuts and the first 500 in the
park will receive a free peanut stress squeeze ball. The Georgia Peanut Commission
will also have recipes and nutritional information available as people enter
Golden Park.
