      * $441.68 per ton for Spanish peanuts
      * $453.06 per ton for Valencia peanuts
      * $453.06 per ton for Virginia peanuts
These prices become effective at 12:01 a.m., Eastern Time (ET), on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, and are used to determine the alternative loan repayment rates for marketing assistance loans and to determine loan deficiency payments.

Cotton and Peanut Field Day set for September 8 in Tifton
The Georgia Peanut Commission, with the Georgia Cotton Commission and the University of Georgia Extension Peanut and Cotton Teams, will co-sponsor a joint Research Field Day on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, in Tifton, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will showcase current research supported by the commissions at the University of Georgia. 24th Annual Georgia Peanut Tour set for September
The Georgia Peanut Tour Committee has set September 14-16, 2010, as the dates for the annual tour in the Americus, Ga. area. The tour spotlights the northwest part of Georgia's peanut production area. The tour includes a cross section of field conditions, peanut harvest clinics, production research at the University of Georgia Southwest Research and Education Center in Plains and the National Peanut Research Laboratory in Dawson, Ga., peanut handling and grading facilities and on-farm demonstrations. The tour also includes a visit to Lance Snacks in Columbus and McCleskey Mills in Smithville, Ga.
